On October 24, 2023, the 5th "Free Trade Port (Zone) International Maritime Law Forum" was successfully held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province on site with a live stream broadcasting.. This forum was co-hosted by CMAC, CCPIT Zhejiang Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Zhoushan City, undertaken by CMAC Zhejiang Arbitration Centre and co-supported by CMAC Shanghai Headquarters and CMAC Hainan Arbitration Centre, etc. As an important achievement of the forum, the "one-stop" maritime and commercial legal service center of China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone was successfully unveiled, and China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone Ad Hoc Arbitration Guidelines” was released.
Dr. Li Hu, Vice Chairman of CMAC addressed the opening ceremony of the forum. He said that it is of great significance to deepen the rule of law cooperation and communications between domestic and international free trade ports (zones) to enhance the level of high-end maritime legal services, CMAC will earnestly implement the country's important deployment on the construction of free trade zones, focus on the strategic requirements of "maritime power" and "shipping power", give play to the important role of maritime arbitration in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese and foreign parties, maintaining a fair and orderly shipping trade order, optimizing the international business environment under the rule of law, and build a preferred location for the settlement of international maritime disputes.
In the keynote speech session, Dr. Chen Bo, CMAC Deputy Secretary General, introduced how CMAC can help the construction of a preferred location for international maritime dispute resolution from the aspects of innovation of arbitration rules, improvement of institutional construction, optimization of arbitration talent team.
